Buying flowers online

Anyone have any luck? suggestions? I want flowers for a friend whose mother died. So far from friends I've heard that 1800flower sucks.

can't you just call a flower shop in the city they live and pay them with a credit card?

I was looking into that but I want to see what I was getting before I drop $75.
