yes. I have a dog now because I felt such a strong desire for a kid.

it worked. she's a perpetual 2 year old. I've had my fill untill I can take on the real thing.

I don't have an especially great desire to change a diaper, wipe snot off of some child's nose, listen to screaming and Barney sing-alongs, pay out the ass just to keep the little creatures alive, miss work because they can't stop vomiting Happy Meal-bile gunk, and then be rewarded with imminent teenage years (I can barely stand teenagers now) and eventually a $30,000 a year college bill.

nah. marriage and kids are prisons. not that i'd have anything special to do outside of the prison, but anyway...

i think i would like to be a teacher, though. you'd get to influence kids without all the shitty parts. a high school teacher, though. i hate all little kids.

I think there's a difference between taking care of other peoples' children, especially when you're limited in what you can discipline them about, and having your own children.

Eh. By discipline I mean it's not exactly Okay to teach a kid about sexuality or answer all the questions they might have about Any thing when they're not your own.

Sometimes I think it would be great. While the snotty nose vomit stuff really sucks, there's tons of awesome stuff in between that makes up for it. Besides, husbands and wifes get snotty noses and vomit too :erm. But I know I'd completely mess up my kids and they'd be total basket cases for the rest of their lives all because of me. so no.

oh and to whoever said that being a teacher is like being a parent but without the crappy parts... I don't know about that. Even in high school, think about all the attitudes of the kids and the politics of the school system. I've always seen being a teacher as being a parent to 30-180 different kids 8 hours a day. But maybe that's just me.

No, I don't want to have any kids. I have yet to hear of any good reason to have them (and, to me, "just because I want some of my own" isn't a good reason). However, I could see myself adopting...I wouldn't seek it out, but if I happened to be working in a situation when I encountered a child who really needed a home or something, I could see it tugging at my heart strings.
