alright first off, by "i can't win here" i just meant that anything i posted was gonna get a less-than-satisfactory reaction from you guys

and that's not what i meant with the band thing - if i that's how i worded it somehow then i fucked up but i'm pretty sure i'd said i didn't "trust" anyone who didn't like them, which was supposed to mean i'd grown such a personal attachment for said band i couldn't even understand why certain folk wouldn't like them. i realize the tongue-&-cheek thing doesn't always come through but it wasn't meant to be taken that damningly

and the third thing, well yeah, i can't believe anyone who's ever loved a band wouldn't be at least slightly put off when someone with seemingly similar taste says they hate them or something like that

here's to another year of misunderstandings, misinterpretations, & random board fall-outs here on

(before we start that on this one tho, i'm kidding)

When I migrated and switched to a new school, they made me follow this one dude around to learn where certain things were. Among his first conversational offerings was, "I'm kind of like the music guy of our year level." I laughed and it was more or less impossible to take him seriously ever again.

I am occasionally brought back to that moment.

Billy Corgans big on the guitar pedals and effects, Mascis is more of a plug into the Marshal stack and let er rip kind of guitarist. I will concede that Corgan's probably more technically proficient, but I find Mascis' playing strikes more of an emotional chord with me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Corgan went on record since 2000 continuously stating that he doesn't wanna "make depressing music" anymore, and that he only want's to create music that "shines a light" or some hippie crap like that? That might be why I don't find much of his playing very emotional anymore.

Corgan does have the special gift of having his guitar elevated by one of the best drummers to ever play in a rock band though. That's a huge factor. But you hear Corgan "shredding" with a run of the mill drummer like Byrne during Ava Adore on that Live in New York DVD and there's really nothing all that impressive about it. A lot of wanking, but nothing very emotive.
