I am an avid stair-runner. Getting stuck behind slow moving people, even just on the sidewalk, is very very annoying. There are a lot of oblivious people in the world who aren't concerned whose way they are in.

I think I walk quicker on those airport conveyor belt things than I ever do on actual terra firma.

obviously many people are just lazy but remember that not all disabilities are immediately visible. like i'm a fatass but i take the elevator down when my old foot injury is bothering me for fear of it giving way on the stairs

in belgium people also stand wherever.

inderdeed, it does. massively.

i have seen a sign once in a train station that suggested that people stood on the right and walked on the left, but that's definitely not a general thing here. and even with the sign, it didn't work. people don't know and probably don't care either.

hahaha. so the Belgians aren't more polite and orderly than the Dutch in every single way after all.

(they are in most ways though)

My experience in my area of Brazil as well.

In the UK people don't always stand on the right either, I find it's mostly Londoners who get really upset if you don't.

I once tried running up the down escalator at the mall as a kid and sprained my ankle real bad.

i was on an escalator yesterday and saw a sign that said 'stand on the right, walk on the left' and there were two railway people standing before me, blocking both positions

I think one of the reasons it's not a very big issue here is that the escalators are never super long

like in London it sometimes feels like you're going down for a mile before you've finally arrived

Stand left, walk right , here. And in Sydney. In Beijing it was stand right, walk left, and most people did it, and they were annoyed with the massive fatass foreigners standing on the wrong side.

the escalator operates at light speed and it still takes 1,5 hour to reach your destination

imagine a couple of fat americans blocking the way

america fuck yeah

coming again to block the motherfucking way
