i have extremely curly irish brillo pad hair in the back but whats left of my hair on top and on the sides is kinda wavy but curls up in humid weather

you have some clear wispy curls around your ears. other than that you have some nicely defined waves in your bang area. It may be enough to get some curls happening if you slap a quarter-sized dollop of this or similar in your hair right when you get out of the shower.

you probably know that you should blot dry with a t-shirt or microfiber cloth to avoid breaking your waves/curls, then apply the product and touch it as little as possible

No I don't know that. My hair tangles really bad so I comb it out but I do use a lightweight cream for smoothing it. I don't spend a lot of time on my hair tbh

My hair is really straight, simply trying to give it volume is already an arduous task.
Also the few times I tried curlying it, it looked completely awful.
