Default The coolest finds on E-bay thread

So, often times when I'm bored and just kicking it, I'll browse across e-bay at a bunch of nerdy collectibles and other brick-a-brack (even though I don't even have an Ebay account). I don't have pay-pal, and it's probably a good thing or I know I'd be spending money left and right on crap that I really don't need. And besides, it's always funner finding treasures in the flesh ( the thrills in the hunt)

But post some cool stuff that you've found on E-bay.

This ones pretty sweet. It's an old brochure that the manufacturer would send out to arcades in order for them to purchase their cabinets.

It of course is for the legendary Simpsons arcade game that was a fixture at the local Chuck E Cheeses. Nothings more fun than being Marge and beating the shit out of people with a vacuum cleaner.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KONAMI-THE-S...ry9cIzZyu-wqQw

The 20 dollar asking price is a little steep, but as legendary as the Simpsons franchise is and the sheer fanaticism of their collectors it's hard to think of a Simpsons collectible much harder to find than this as I'm sure not many of these survived.

This is a hell of a deal

15 dollar asking price for a 1990 Bart Simpson bar of soap mint in box.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1990...UAAOSwKtlWhcBZ

And there's a buy it now feature. This is the kind of thing that most sane people don't save, so there's likely very few of these in existence.

I think years from now Simpsons will grow in appreciation and importance and a lot of this merchandise from the 1st year or 2 in their run will be worth a fortune... As good as any collectible investment as far as I'm concerned.

I'll use etsy to look for collectibles I like such as McCoy and other pottery or something made with shells and then look for it cheaper on eBay. But I don't do this lately because we have too many things

I want this but I want to pay a buck for it: https://www.etsy.com/listing/5001854...=sr_gallery_19

Oh hell yeah. And Simpsons was the newest, big talk of the town. All the kids would be hovering around this cabinet, waiting for a turn.

It's kind of sad that the Simpsons suck now, as they had an epic relevancy run of about 8 years but then I was just all down-hill.

I don't e-bay, or else I'd buy that in a second.

Collectibles are all about the level of the collectability of the franchise/brand and the scarcity of the item at hand.

Anything like bath items or food tie-ins (things people generally wouldn't think to save) are always worth the most.

I love how the whole families just gathered around the arcade game, just can't get enough of how awesome it is. Which is even funnier to think about cause they'd either be at an arcade or a convenience store as no normal people just bought an arcade cabinet for their own leisurely enjoyment in those days.

"Now soap has a name and it's Bartholowmew J. Simpson"

Peculiar, they never mentioned Barts middle name in the show... have they?

I know it's clearly Homer J Simpson, and that had been mentioned before even up until there was an episode revolving around what the "J" actually stood for... But Bart J Simpson? As an avid Simpsons fan, that one I've never heard.

So, I just googled it.

Bart Simpsons middle name is "Jojo"

...wtf? Have I been living under a rock? Is this common knowledge?

Apparently the JoJo was just referenced from an officially licensed book from 1993. I don't think the name found it's way into any episodes.

would actually be a good topic for a new episode. Would be a funny plot line on how Homer and Marge decided on that one... But the lame thing about the Simpsons now is that there's no continuity at all. It's just a random bunch of silliness per 30 minutes that never correlates into the next episode.

Bubble bobble was dope.

I used to play that with friends religiously at Hollywood Video. We'd always feel all boss when we'd get up on the top 10 high score. All of the names would be us and then there'd be some other guy getting a few spots and we'd try to take him down

it's always been a show that started over with every episode. yeah i mean some characters that appeared sporadically might have intro episodes and then later on are 'known' to the family or whatever, but they weren't serial episodes per se. I haven't seen a new Simpsons episode in probably like a decade but there was only ever just a little continuity. I mean, they don't even age

its a relic from an era where people watched shows at particular times of the week instead of binging entire seasons over a weekend
