I didn't wanna see the new Ghostbusters because it looked like heavily CGI-ed garbage. Same reason I won't watch Mawky Mawk and the Transformers Bunch.

I do like most the nu-Ghostbusters cast, though. Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are a big part of modern SNL actually being watchable.

And yes, the fact that they recast the Ghostbusters as wimmin is the one and only reason for the massive backlash from fuzzy's friends. Nobody cared so much when they recasted Terminators and Robocops with Blandy McBlandersons. And those movies sucked, too.

I liked the new ghostbusters

Thought it was kickass esp. in 3d. New weapons were a good idea; the shoot/trap routine was getting stale. It was also funny. It was true to the spirit of the original. It was joyous and the visuals were fun and cheesy

i just hate how our copyright culture has to endlessly reuse the same franchises & ideas because if someone tried to pass off "female buddy comedy about women who hunt supernatural phenomena" as anything but ghostbusters it would have been killed by lawyers

Yeah, but if anything, it probably forces more creativity ultimately and creates a lot less confusion. Without it, we'd be flooded with thousands of Asylum-level knock-offs of the five most popular properties and not much else.

As many shitty remakes and reboots as there are, I do believe it could be worse.

I read they are remaking Cronenberg's The Fly (a remake in and of itself). Like, fuck you so hard. That movie was and still is fucking perfect. You can't best it, so don't even try.
