Debate with a friend on whether Jennifer Lopez is a good actress

I was defending her. I said that despite most of her films being horrible she did have big parts in three really good movies: Out of Sight, U Turn, and The Cell. It seemed there was a small window of opportunity back in the 90s where she was doing good work. But he was saying to me that three good films out of dozens and dozens of garbage does not make her a good actress.

Yeah. I actually saw the Cell in theaters. And Out of Sight was awesome. You had Clooney and Don Cheadle doing some of their best work. It feels like a Tarantino movie at times.

Probably no coincidence then seeing as how Jackie Brown and Out of Sight were both based on the work of Elmore Leonard. Keaton even plays the same character in both.

I respect her back story, I know she worked her ass off to get as far as she did, but as far a triple threat... it's hard to be a triple threat when you do all 3 mediocre. Every time she sang about how legit she was, I always thought... you are legit, but you sound so not legit singing about being legit!

There's a latina librarian in town whose name is Jenifer. She is a voluptuous vixen. I do my best to completely ignore her. It's hard tho. Every man who sees her immediately starts trying to compliment her heh.
