Do you yield to expiration/sell-by dates or do you actually taste/sniff-test the food and/or use your head to figure out if it's still edible before tossing it away?

OK but what about the nice folks who will have to break into your home someday to investigate that strange smell?

Do you still value physical media (books, DVDs, vinyl/CD) or are you content with everything being digital/streaming?

Taste/sniff-test all the way. Most things are still good for a decent while after the expiration date.

Not really, I used to love collecting all this stuff, ended up with a shelf full of dvds half of which I never even watched (and an alarming number are still on the shrink wrap). I'm totally fine with just keeping the stuff I listen to / watch the most in a hard drive or just streaming somewhere.

i like books and vinyl but i don't collect vinyl (i don't really like collecting but i can respect a nice vinyl collection)

dvds & cds tho are disposable future garbage that will float around in the ocean. i've had pretty spirited arguments with gamers who whine about not getting a box, manual & game and i'm like fuck all that shit, i love steam. reduces trash. no big truck pouring out co2 to deliver wow expansions to gamestop. nobody's felling forests to put together manuals about how to kill an orc by clicking on it. it kills jobs but you know that'll catch up to us during the war at the end of the world

thing about dvds & cds people don't think about is that, unlike a book or vinyl, it eventually degrades and becomes unusable no matter how well you take care of it. the compact disc is a product of the planned obsolescence era of late capitalism, the realization that if you make something to last people won't need to buy from you into infinity. So everything is made to fall apart.

The creation of more and more electronic products is worse for the environment than forestry operations. Electronics are replete with heavy metals and rare substances that require huge craters in the earth to be made. The "recycling" of these products usually leads to poisoning of water and such. Just some stuff to chew on and of course everyone is complicit

you'd have to live in a forest like those dudes in Happy People not to be complicit, i own a car. its a civic with high gas mileage and low emissions but its still a gas burning car.

i still think that reducing the amount of physical shit you buy, especially concerning electronics & entertainment, is going to have some positive impact, further making stuff to last (not good for consumer economy tho, you want the iphone to be trash in 3 years), and buying used is something i always do

Yeah, but I'll be dead by then. I have a bunch of CDs from the '80s that still look and play just fine. I figure, by the time my collection dies out, it'll be whoever inherited it's problem (which I realize will inevitably become Earth's problem), but whatever, life is terrible and we're all terrible. I like my horror blu-rays.

I buy used probably 70% of the time, for what that's worth.

Also, I haven't upgraded my phone in over four years.

Can I have permission to sleep at night?

Do you flush the toilet every time you pee, or do you wait until you've peed it in a couple of times before flushing (poops notwithstanding)?

Because if I'm well-hydrated and my pee is clear, I see no reason why I should flush. Maybe after four or five pees?

I don't suppose there is really a reason to flush after every urination, although if you wait too many times the smell of pee will start to hit you when you enter the bathroom

Sure, if you eat asparagus or have diabetes?

Usually my pee doesn't really smell like anything.

I'm just talking about the home terlit, btw. I always flush in public restrooms.
