the moz compiled 'under the influence' might interest you. it's basically a compilation of his influences... though i'd be more curious with what marr thinks.

tracklist:

CD
01. The Sundown Playboys 'Saturday Nite Special'
02. The New York Dolls 'Trash'
03. Nat Couty 'Woodpecker Rock'
04. Diana Dors 'So Little Time'
05. Ludus 'Breaking The Rules'
06. Charlie Feathers 'One Hand Loose'
07. Tyrannosaurus Rex 'Great Horse'
08. Jimmy Radcliffe '(There Goes) The Forgotten Man'
09. Jaybee Wasden 'De Castrow'
10. Ramones 'Judy Is A Punk'
11. Sparks 'Arts & Crafts Spectacular'
12. The Cats 'Swan Lake'
13. Nico 'All That Is My Own'
14. Patti Smith 'Hey Joe'
15. Klaus Nomi 'Death'

There's an article in the latest Record Collector that talks about songs that influenced Smiths songs. It's a neat article.

well, it's like this.

moz: "these are the songs that influenced me to be, for the most part, a melodramatic, whiny bitch."
marr: "these are the songs that influenced me to be a fucking amazing guitarist."

which would you rather listen to?

Yes but that melodramatic, whiny bitch was the reason for their success.

Morrissey > Marr

Morrissey is better off now without him...and Marr now? Laughable.
