Interested in cast iron because it's the most non toxic and buyitforlife pan I can think of but it would be an adjustment. Also kinda heavy. To be honest I rarely even use my descoware for that reason

To be fair all La Croix tastes like metal.

Cast iron is fun (I think) because it's both collectible and useful. I like the idea that you can buy a couple or a few and use them for life and pass them down. I now have 5 (including a griddle) pre-war skillets and I really only use 2 of them. They only appreciate in value though.

The vintage models from pre-30s aren't that heavy tbh. It was only after/during the war they started adding a bunch of bullshit material in the molds which made them heavy. Same with the new models.

The difficult thing to find is lids, even though you really don't need them....

I've done a lot of dumb research if you have any questions about identification

I will be sure to ask if I come across a piece. My mom does all the time. She scraps them.

That's a shame. They're actually really easy to restore even if they're covered in rust. You just soak them in a certain solution for a day or two and scrub the rest away.

I was turned off my first try too.

They really are a game-changer.

Though to be fair, the most practical thing about them is that you can sear a meat on the stove top and then throw the entire thing in the oven. Also they make perfect cornbread.

These are things I do not cook. I guess I like cornbread but I have a small pantry and I'm not adding corn flour to my grocery list.

I want it for the supposed non stick power. I love hashbrowns n eggs

You don't have to act like you never ever cook meat, just to please me.
