I like bananas fairly ripe. A little green around the ends is ok but the rest should be solidly yellow. Spots are fine, but once it starts to get mushy it's not good anymore.

When I was a kid, my mom forced me to eat bananas and I hated them. One day I hid one in a drawer and told her I had eaten it.
After a few days the smell became really unbearable and my mom found it. The thing was basically melting and turning into a dark sludge inside the drawer. She made me clean it as a lesson. The dark spot never went away from that drawer.
