Default Can you drive a standard? 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘

I sort of can. I learned how to drive on automatic, but my so has only ever driven a standard (12 years for one clutch!), so I've dabbled. I would like to one day own a standard so I can get all that better fuel mileage and control over speed. Hbu?

I can barely remember the last car I had that wasn't a stick shift. If I'm in the mood and have the time, it's cool to 'hypermile' and coast as often as possible and get that mpg up.

How much do you get? My guy has an older civic hatch so the mpg is substantial. Probably high 30s-40s. I also drive a civic but it's newer. Two generations makes a big difference

I still, as it is, don't pay out the ass for gas. I just want more as well as the fun of driving. I want to feel like I'm driving and not just pushing a button

7 of my last 8 cars had manual transmissions. The only one that didn't was a Subaru Legacy beater I got for winter and sold after like 8 months.

mercedes drivers: lemme just speed up to a few feet behind you when you're already going 80 in the left lane and get all pissed that u don't speed up to 99 so the only thing to do is swerve into the center lane and continue along being a jerk and bad driver

It's almost impossible to find an AWD car with a manual now. Other than Ford, Subaru, and VW/Audi I can't think of any off the top of my head. Maybe Volvo has model I don't know about with a stick. Good luck finding a truck with a manual too. And a manual SUV? Fuhgidaboutit.

One of the ford focuses. Mike considered buying on but we're going with another civic hatch

I think so! That was the first day of the year that it was above 50. Today we have 5 inches of snow on the ground.

RIGHT NOW!!! :

Are you gonna get another awd or even front wheel drive for the snow? How is the BRZ/FRS/86 in the stuff?

Nice! Those Civics are so pretty. And yours looks really clean. The digital speedometers are cool too.

It's okay. It has an alright limited-slip differential but it's pretty light. This is the fourth RWD car I've had (that worked), and the two biggest factors for snow driving are tires and weight. As long as I have this truck to beat on in winter, I'll avoid the snow like the plague purely to keep this car from turning into a rust bucket.

I've had two Honda DX's over the years. low 40's mpg was typical. Anymore I don't really have a car; I drive a Honda insight that gets mid-50's to 60+ mpg and a Jeep, neither of which is great for carrying gear around.

exactly, i hate that behavior. they say nowadays that automatic has better fuel economy, but this can't be true for people who drive like that.
