In general, the logic is this: it's not covered in mainstream media, so they're hiding the truth. That 'truth' could really be anything from reptilians to satanic pedofreak networks. For TOC and other conspiracy nuts 'thinking for yourself' equals assuming that theories and ideas that are often completely batshit have a bigger chance of being true than more or less ordinary explanations.

I like the fact that TOC wrote 'Truth' with a capital T. Makes me think of religious nuts that see whatever fairytale they've been brainwashed with as the ultimate truth, with little or no room for discussion.
