I miss the old Netflix. The one that seemed to have every movie ever and i could order them and the movies came in the mail. One after the other. I'd watch new movies and old and my favorites and it went on and on.

Now Netflix is like a channel on cable TV between HBO and Showtime. Most of the time it's better than either. But gone are all my favorite movies and the new movies and the old movies. And i spend more time trying to click through the menu and second guess the algorithm that organizes the lists of things it thinks i want to watch.

The old Netflix was like a fantastic cheat. Like somebody giving Blockbuster video stores the middle finger and offering a hundred times as many DVDs for $10. An all you can watch buffet.

I miss that old Netflix. Cause there is no longer an all you can watch buffet.

Blockbuster was shiat. Cookie cuter assortment of new and old films. The illusion of variety and choice.

What I miss is the local independent video shoppe that had all those vids that blockbuster would never bother to carry. had a couple of great ones here. All gone now.

Blockbuster was great. I have a lot of positive nostalgic filled memories of the place. Those paper-thin carpets, 4-way shelving units all over the place filled with random big boxes of candy and band t-shirts, the display units where you could play the hottest new video game of the time.

Was really a fun place to visit and shop at.

when Netflix was still about mailing DVDs blockbuster started a DVD in the mail service which I liked. You could return your mail DVDs at a blockbuster store AND get a free rental at the store every time you did.

I never got the experience ye olde netflix. By the time it got here it was already a rotating arbitrary selection of older streaming titles.

Can't even remember the last time I watched a film on netflix tho. I pretty much keep a subscription to access their original shows, and think it's worth it.

we still have the local independent video shoppe close to my home... they have a whole basement floor of xxx films for rent to keep them going, and apparently it's been working great until now. but they now close at 9 pm instead of midnight, which isn't a good sign.

Does anyone else feel like they're just drowning in content these days? There are so. many. shows. I just can't even keep up with the ones I already like. I just can't do it anymore. It seriously stresses me out. I've started just checking out completely. Last week, I was on vacation but was home about 75% of the time. I think I watched maybe five episodes of television total.

There's an indie rental store a few blocks down from where I live. They do well and it's a pretty cool place. It happens.
