This is clearly the case. It was as if when she lost in 2008 that the party assured her that she'd be their candidate in 2016 and that they'd do anything to get her the victory. I think the lack of people running for the Dems was absolute proof of that. Hillary was their "guy" come hell or high water.

I think they assumed Bernie would be a walk in the park and judging by the Wikileaks there was actually some agreement in place where he couldn't hit Hillary hard. In hindsight it's clearly why he brushed off the private server as no big deal when it was clearly something that he should have wore into the ground if he actually even wanted to win.

Yeah, that's one narrative I haven't seen brought up at all. If he bothered running a better campaign he should have been able to beat Hillary. He had all of the donations and momentum but he played it like a wimp and wouldn't hit her hard over all of her past failures and shortcomings. The guy already had a Twitter tantrum about the protests against him, only to have a tweet sent out 9 hours later that spoke positively about their "passion for democracy," which was obviously typed by some staffer trying to do damage control. During his campaign, his staff had to revoke his Twitter privileges, as well. Data analysts even noticed that all of the sane, coherent Trump tweets during the campaign were sent out by a different phone from the angry, whiny ones, making it patently obvious when a tweet was from his campaign or The Donald himself.

The guy got support on a "populist" ticket, and is already signalling that he's going to be in bed with the corporations. The same auto industry he accused Obama of playing crony-capitalism with, he's removing efficiency standards for so that they can make more profits. Defense corporation stocks and private prisons stocks went through the roof because of his win. He will probably also get the Department of Justice to wave the $14 billion fine Deutsche Bank owes to it for fraudulent activities, because he owes the bank billions after not paying back the loans he took out when they were the last bank left that would still lend to him. Deutsche Bank's stocks went up after Trump's win, too.

The guy is a crook, a huckster, and a charlatan, and he's taking America for a ride.
