This is exactly what I was thinking. Let everything settle for awhile, then hit her up to hang out and be more assertively flirty. She can either say no directly and that will be it, or she can come get drinks with me, but I will make it a situation where she has to respond decisively.

meanwhile I'm goin out with a tinder girl tomorrow night and we have kind of built up more of a flirty rapport, plus to be blunt she is closer to my own level of attractiveness so I am less intimidated. and no mutual friends in real life so if I fuck up it just doesn't matter.

So in one of my courses there was this girl that I had a group project with who I kinda wanted to get to know better. She sat beside me in class on the last day of the semester and we had small talk and I was wondering if I should express interest but then I caught my reflection in my laptop's screen and remembered that I'm ugly so I didn't.

Probably just as well because idk how one expresses interest anyway. Like, would I had just turned to her and said "interest?"

my husband woke up at midnight last night. He'd fallen asleep on the couch after finishing his third kilkenny. It was nice.

We went out for korean bbq tonight and shared a bottle of soju. While the kids ran around. I really like soju. I've been in a great mood all night so that bodes terribly for tomorrow. Oh well.

The funny thing is, I don't know if it was even fear of rejection this time that deterred me (though I probably am a cagón).

I dunno, I kind of noticed some things. For example, toward the end of the semester, she started to sit near me, despite the fact that her usual seat was in another part of the room (and this was well after the group project had concluded). On that particular last day, I was sitting on the far end of this table facing a wall, and she had to bypass several more convenient seats to choose the one next to mine. Here are the schematics.



Plus, even though she seemed like she could be cool, the attraction was only moderate, so that made it easier to talk to her like a normal person and not be all stupidly smitten. And she seemed enthusiastic to carry on a conversation.

I guess I was just sort of thinking, "what's the point?" Like, even if I fooled somebody into thinking I'm funny or interesting or whatever it is she thinks for now, it would only be a matter of time before she realized that I don't really have a life and there's nothing behind whatever impression I managed to present. I can't really even visualize myself in a romantic context because I'm gross and so the whole idea feels wrong and I'd feel sorry for the other person. Like, I'm imagining pecking someone on the cheek, and the thought just makes me shudder.

We continued to talk as we exited the lecture room, and at the end of it, she seemed a little disappointed that what would probably be our last conversation ended, and she was like "well, maybe I'll see you around," and I realized that was the point at which I was supposed to ask for her contact information, but I didn't.

Yeah, on the one hand, I agree that people should take hints and not aggressively pursue others who show signs of lack of interest, but on the other hand, it doesn't seem clear to me that RGB's flu girl is clearly uninterested, especially because not everybody makes it super obvious when they dig somebody and she could be posting on an unofficial Sun Kil Moon fan forum like, "the guy who took me on that date for which I had the flu is texting me, what should I respond?"

Also, glad the dinner was good and that the pleasure of the barbecue and the soju were enough gasms for your husband and that he did not feel the need to add any additional non-gustatory pleasures tonight.
