Anybody else watching sense8?


I think the first season is over, but I started watching it yesterday
It's so interesting

I love the Wachowskis, even though they made Jupiter Ascending. Have heard good things.

I think it's my favorite Science Fiction series since BSG. Partly because it's so original and not like anything else on television today. 90% of scifi on TV now is based on some dystopian view of the world or the future, which has been done to death. Sense8 is a little slow and gratuitous at times, but it's well cast, well written and the cinematography is on par with what you'd see in a wachowski film. I'm also happy to see something dealing with adult themes and not just mindless CGI and violence.

Netflix just released a documentary that shows some behind the scenes stuff from the making of the series. They show how they shot some scenes, which is quite interesting. There's much less FX than I thought. Most of the FX are old school simple camera work and editing. One thing I noticed is how hands on Lana is on set. She is literally hugging the cameraman, pushing and pulling him all over the set.

Hate to be a naysayer (I wanted to like it), but I watched the first episode and thought the dialogue was horribly written. Their portrayal of all countries other than America was cringeworthy too.

by "America" do you mean Chicago? Cause they treated Chi-Town the same way they treated everything else.

were you expecting to see some serious non fiction sociological tour of the 7 continents of the earth?

It gets pretty awesome on episode 07, if I were you I would give it another chance
But you will have to endure some orgy scenes until you get there, big deal

They did film here fwiw. Parts were filmed at a big loft building where T's friend had a recording studio and they recorded an album. Kinda cool.

They must have spent a shit ton of money on this series. I'm not sure what the budget was but it had to have been huge to have done so much on location filming.

there aren't really that many sex scenes, but there is one where I think almost all of the cast is engaged in group sex. it's definately rare for a television show to portray sexuality as fluid and not fixed.

The orgy scene is very beautiful, the girl masturbating to two guys making out is pretty interesting, I mean, even considering porn movies, that's not very common

The only thing that bothers me is the fact that everyone speaks English, is it that hard to read subtitles?

is the fact that they're speaking english for the benefit of an english speaking audience any more unbelievable than the idea that 8 people are psychically connected to the point where they have mental orgies

its poor form to make a show with significant amounts of subtitling. if the movie is foreign thats one thing but if is made in english then subtitling more than i dunno ten mins of screen time to people not speaking english makes about as much sense as having an english lan comic book with half the content written in albanian with english subtitles

now, was it just me or did most of game of frowns interminable scenes with kal drogo not have subtitles, the fake language is annoying enough to begin with

8 people are psychically connected to the point where they have mental orgies = awesome

security guards (or any other small character) in s. korea, mexico and iceland speak english with everyone, even among themselves = stupid

yea, I have no idea what for.

only seen the pilot so far, not sure what to think yet.
some scenes were just off - Wachowski style off - and the cast isn't that great.

but I like the idea, it has beautiful shots, and I enjoyed hearing a tv soundtrack with Antlers AND Sigur Ros in one scene.
