Its the hip thing to do now. Get with the times. I like to go to my local hipster coffee shop and then pull out a banana that i then start peeling form the tip, as if there was nothing to it.

The other day in the metro i espied some perfectly oblivious guy peeling a banana from the stem and i couldn't suppress a surprised and derisive "ha!". Then i exchanged amused and knowing glances with the rest of my fellow hip Plateau commuters, who, no doubt, also noticed what was going on.

No it's jsut being a foodie. You can't seriously say you enjoy bananas (and by extension food) if you peel it from the stem. Doing it publicly is a culinary faux-pas.

Those that are close don't have nearly the sweet taste and creamy texture.
there are other cultivars suitable for production in the same way. Relax. Where are you getting your info from besides sensationalist media

Except it's not. Yeah, sensationalist media.

You know what is really a shame is the apple cultivars that aren't lost, per se, but undocumented, still growing and being cut down and dying without anyone caring about their genes. Because let's face it, apples are the most boring fruit

until this thread, i had no idea there even was a different way to peel a banana.

There's no right way to eat a banana, and I'm doubtful that all other primates peel the fruit in a certain way. My rats' species is very successful- arguably as successful as humans have been- yet they don't even peel bananas. I gave Tie and Ralph a whole banana today and they shredded the peel from the center.

People are just being contrary and saying things oft repeated that they think makes them sound interesting

Ever and I had some fun harvesting bananas together.

My favorite bananas easily found at markets are those red ones and those little ones. The large yellow ones are a little boring but still pleasant. Over in Australia, a culivar from the Pome subgroup is sold with Cavendish subgroup but I forgot if they're cheaper or the same price or what
