There is a difference between Sex and Gender

Gender can be described as a mental state while Sex is specifically a physical state.

So you can have a female gender while being of the male sex or the other way around. This is absolute hell though, and so a lot of people elect to make their Sex match their Gender through operation

Gender just means ideas about sexuality, or the roles that comprise or are associated with sex.

Sexuality is one's physical sex, i.e you have a penis or a vagina, or the physical act of sex.

the idea that gender is somehow distinct, and can contradict sexuality is disturbing to you.
