What?

Of course I find these things interesting and I think it's important to know stuff that isn't related to your employment so you aren't ignorant, but in terms of whether 99% of the stuff you learn is actually going to be practically useful to you if you don't go college I would say no, and that's not the point of School

You at the least put things into the context of being your personal opinion. Elph just assesses his personal experience, draws a (frequently heavily generalised) conclusion from it and then declares it in absolutes with no consideration that his personal experience may be just that.

According to wiki there's 21 fiction books. And 8 or so non-fiction and essay books.

I haven't read any of the non-fiction and there's like two books on this list I've never heard of.

Steinbeck books are not particularly long on average

And pretty much everyone in CA has read Mice and Men. It's required high school reading

When I was in High School I was really into writing and wanted to be an author (I was even president of the Creative Writing Club lol) and I was really into politics and so I idolized Steinbeck and the way he wrote about the hardships of the common man.

But then I realized the same thing Steinbeck realized when he was young and that was you can't be a good writer with no life experience. He went and did a bunch shit jobs and got a bunch of experience which creatively fueled him.

Similarly I've put writing aside in exchange for the more social art of Music and have been working and stuff

Lol who even cares about that? I always hear people making fun of Will Smith for not swearing on his records whenever he's brought up. I've never understood why that's believed to be so odd. Theres a ton of lyricists out there who never use profanity on their records.

Not true at all. It's consistently around the 60% mark and getting better. Even on my Sports handicapping thread I was 11-7... Even after a terrible 3 game loss chunk.
