Default Why do people complain about service so much?

?

People have been rude to me, I've had to wait a long time for a simple request, I've been inconvenienced because of seemingly incompetent employees, but I've never felt the need to complain. I can't imagine getting so upset about something so trivial (anything that can happen in a store, over the phone, in a restaurant, at a hotel is trivial)that I have to ask for a manager. But every day at work read, hear, or see a guest complain. I just don't understand...

Yeah. People fucking LOVE to get pissed off at bad customer service. It's like a hobby for some people

It depends what kind of bad service. If the person was blatantly rude, it's worth reporting, every single time. I think it's worth making someone lose their job over. Anyway, anyone rude at their job probably doesn't really care to be there so why not help them change job.... But honest mistakes and stuff, whatever. And i mean rude rude not like, oh my god they didn't smile at me! I'm not a demanding or unreasonable customer so there's generally no reason why someone should be a dick to me (cause yeah some customers totally deserve it)

Incompetence i generally deal with because for one you never know if they're new or not. Unless you DO know they're not and it's not the first time you have to deal with their incompetence.... But like i remember recently calling Bell and it was simple questions and requests and the guy was just completely confused and goddam slow. This call should have taken 5 mins. It took over 30. Endless waits for stuff he should have been able to tell me right away. But he might have been new... So i don't complain.

Also if you complain about a bad experience, lots of companies will give you vouchers.... No, I never did it on purpose just to get shit, but like Amtrak has gotten SO bad in the last 5 years i've complained twice about stuff i thought was fairly unacceptable and both times i got the value of a trip out of it... so you know..if i've got a fair complaint, i don't hold it in anymore...

Its also pathological in some people.

I still don't think every damn complaint is wrong to make. Just don't complain on trivial shit.

I found myself quoting this a lot last year, for no real reason, in that place that I was in.

Just thought you should know.

I mean he'd locked the door so new customers wouldn't come in but he basically stood there in front of the door expecting tips and only when we said sorry we have nothing he reluctantly unlocked the door and as he let us out he said something like "its not cool guys, next time try to pay the waiter" in a flippant way, the waiter being himself no less.... how's that for tacky....

My gf went off on him big time (she does that to awful people and i love her for it... you don't want to even try anything, she'll verbally tear you apart) and seriously WHAT IF we hadn't been ok with the service anyway? It's actually our RIGHT not to pay tip if we hadn't felt like it (not that we didn't want to...well after that i as glad we didnt though) and you certainly don't get to say anything about it. But to basically lock us in waiting for your tip and then try to make it like its our fault and we're shitty for it? Fuck you. And then i wrote them the worst review ever on yelp because i have nothing better to do with my life and i want awful people to pay and suffer (really i do).

I get nothing out of complaining about a rude employee. I have no idea what they might be going through, and I'm self conscious enough to think that maybe I committed some faux pas. Also, I'm not going to have that on my conscious, get someone fired right before rent or something.

If you really need to complain always call the customer service number and don't mention employees by name. Don't ask to see a manager or supervisor. All they do is go complain to us, the employees who have no control over anything.

The customer service people will force management to change things or else their job is on the line.

Complaining amongst friends is okay though, right?

I switched mobile networks recently, increasingly poor service was one of the reasons why I left the old one. It's kind of fun to talk shit about it with friends, it's like letting off steam about something that grinds your gears even though it's largely inconsequential to one's life.

I mean, in every job I've had managers have been terrified of the customer service number

One of my managers changed the receipt printer paper from the ones we used that had the number already printed on the back to blank printer paper and told all the employees to give out the store number instead of the customer service number if a customer asked

What's the point of that? If they were calling the manager they could just talk to them in person right then.

You're calling the manager's manager

It depends on where you're complaining but this is way better if you legit want the problem to be fixed

Or waiting a minute because emails aren't necesarily automatic. People use to have to wait DAYS to get their mail but waiting for two minutes for an email is unacceptable and they need to speak to a manager now.

Oh gotcha.

Yeah they would have customers just call the store and then the very people who they wanted to complain about would pick up the phone listen to them complain and then would would make fun of said customer afterwards.

Maybe it's just my experience, but the worst customer service comes for In Store managers because they don't have a boss in the next room
