Maybe it's how he gets through the feels. And rather than start every conversation with "When my wife died..." he's telling his story like this. It's a pretty important part of getting over something like this. Like any of you who've rolled your eyes at him can possibly know what he's going through...

part of me wants to be really cynical about it, but reprise has the right idea. we cant judge anyone for the ways they choose to grieve. we aren't inside their head space so who knows what degree of comfort they get out of doing something like this.

people grieve in weird ways.

these car decals are pretty popular in florida. no sure how common it is elsewhere.

And there's this:

When a childhood friend of mine died in a car wreck, they played "Rust in Peace" at his funeral because everyone knew without a doubt that's exactly what he would have wanted.

when i die i want to donate any organs that are suitable (probably few or none between illness and all the meds im on) and then donate everything else to science.

someone better take damn good care of my cat and i guess people can get together and say some sappy things about me for an hour or two.

Was there a memorial fund to donate to. And what did the newborn want while his dad was posing for pictures.

Like, fuck, I feel like an asshole but I also think this guy is an asshole. And no one, perhaps rightly so, has talked about what happened leading up to this.

Some people will grieve for his wife, but no one will understand the life he almost had that got taken from him just when it was supposed to blossom.

I really think it's impossible for me, you, or anyone who hasn't gone through this type of think to understand what is going through his head. So he named his son Lennon and decided to use that to dictate what song he wanted to play and upload. Would it be less tacky if he picked some other song?

I haven't seen this video on facebook or anything, just on this thread, so I don't know what people are saying about it or whatever. But yes, you have to be very cynical to think this man's family died and he is just some attention seeker because he dares to try to get people to think for a moment about these people who he loves who are gone forever.
That is a big assumption. Wait for his record contract and music video.

Playing guitar in an ICU to a dying child is attention seeking gauche bullshit and a night of sleep has only intensified that feeling for me.

And let's start a countdown for when the fucking "right to life" movement picks this up.

RAAAAHHHHH! I hate this on so many levels. BUT of course I have sympathy for the man. But. Fuck. Fuuuucccckkkkk. Is anyone as conflicted about this as I am???

I don't really disagree that it's attention seeking, more about what kind of attention he is seeking - that is attention for his dead child and wife, who no one will give a shit about for the rest of time after the internet gets over this.

Yes it is tacky.

I mean, I think the chances that he's an asshole who is indifferent to the deaths of his family to the point where he just wants attention in a purposeful attempt to get a record deal or money is fairly small. Maybe I'm naive.

I think people haven't brought it up because it is probably something mundane like gestational diabetes. Are you implying it might be his fault that they are dead?

I could absolutely be wrong about that. But the lack of clarifying information does lead me to suspect it.

That would make him dangerously foolish and provoke some anger in me. Not sure it would change how I feel about my previous statements though.

I mean it's not like you don't have good points. I just don't think it's some kind of conspiracy. It is true that he may make money from this in the end, and that does sit wrong with me.

"Their baby boy Lennon James was much anticipated. He was due February 22, 2015. His family shared his short life, born November 8, 2014. But he passed away, bathed in prayer, surrounded by family and friends November 11th of that week."

the baby was premature.

Regardless of his intentions, it is clear that in life if you are shameless you will get by a lot better than the rest. Like i've been thinking about good ways to make money off gofundme for a while but every time, shame stops me. I wish i'd been the guy that thought about starting a joke page to fund his potato salad. I think he made like 100 000 or some shit. Definitely over 10 000 anyway. Fucking people.

Is it because he filmed it that everyone is wetting their pants? What if he had done the same thing, only not uploaded it?

Cuz like, I sing to/with my kid and I'd sure fucking sing to her if she was DYING IN THE HOSPITAL.

BTW, he won't gain much $$ directly from YouTube. It's not his song. If I understand correctly, the $$ rolls in when you have millions of views with original content.

No but his memorial page has raised 109 000$ so far.

And like i understand hospital bills but it doesn't mention he didn't have insurance anywhere and just says to "help him face fewer financial challenges". Ok there's funerals and then having to get by with i assume maybe possibly one less income. But there's always something a bit sick about people giving money to grieving people. Like "here, this might make you feel better about it...i mean at least you got some money!"
