Default Welp, my wife died during childbirth, and now my newborn son is dying too.

Better record myself playing guitar to him for the internets to see

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lNBcTkssWA

Quote:
Chris Picco singing Blackbird to his son, Lennon James Picco, who was delivered by emergency C-section at 24 weeks when Chris' wife Ashley unexpectedly and tragically passed away in her sleep. Lennon's lack of movement and brain activity was a constant concern for the doctors and nurses at Loma Linda University Hospital, where he received the absolute best care available. During the pregnancy, Ashley would often feel Lennon moving to music so Chris asked if he could bring his guitar into the NICU and play for Lennon, which he did for several hours during the last days of Lennon's precious life. One day after filming this, Lennon went to sleep in his daddy's arms.

I know it sounds like a disgusting joke, but he probably has thousands of dollars owing for hospital bills and funeral expenses...because #USAknowsbest

It's truly a disgrace.

Remember the Juggalo who like called a radio station to talk about how her premature baby had died and then started bitching about the ICP merchandise they were supposed to send her and hadn't? Obviously not giving a shit about the death of her baby. also I think she tried to sue the hospital when really it was her drug use that had killed the baby. It's all blurry in my memories right now but yeah....

It prolly cost a million dollars to try to keep the fetus alive, while countless others die without healthcare

People deal with trauma by trying to tell other people. So it makes sense he'd want some attention for this. I feel horrible for the guy.

people grieve in all sorts of ways. this kind of thing seems like it will become more popular as time goes on - public grieving on the internet. dude just lost his entire life. let him upload a video of him playing backbird next to his dying son if it makes him feel better. you don't have to give him money.

it's sad, but the memorial website is awful. why do people insist on creating memorials comprised of lame prose and cliche

because rituals give people comfort.

those kinds of cliche words around death are just ritual for many people.

i mean, something like 45% of americans think the earth is less than 10,000 years old. that is something that bothers me. this, not so much.

So the staged photos and playing a Beatles song for a newborn named Lennon for a YouTube video doesn't seem at all exploitative?

And this is a separate issue entirely but I can't help but wonder what led to the emergency c-section and the wife's death.

Again. Maybe I'm finally too cynical. His message was fucking weird too. "All you need is love." Like seriously? And if he had health insurance this memorial is a fucking fraud and should be exposed as such. If not, then yeah, people should help. Seems like that would have been mentioned though.

This and... I don't understand the uproar. After reading so many hate filled comments about this guy on a few other sites... don't they realize that people have been doing this for years anyway? YT is full of videos with people singing to their dying relatives. Local news papers feature tragic stories and give people out there a way to donate money for burials.

I don't think the man is thinking exactly straight. Is he exploiting the death of his family? Assuming the money he is getting is for medical/burial, I don't think so. After the few weeks of bringing this attention to his family and himself, no one outside of him will ever grieve the loss he is going through. Some people will grieve for his wife, but no one will understand the life he almost had that got taken from him just when it was supposed to blossom.

I really think it's impossible for me, you, or anyone who hasn't gone through this type of think to understand what is going through his head. So he named his son Lennon and decided to use that to dictate what song he wanted to play and upload. Would it be less tacky if he picked some other song?

I haven't seen this video on facebook or anything, just on this thread, so I don't know what people are saying about it or whatever. But yes, you have to be very cynical to think this man's family died and he is just some attention seeker because he dares to try to get people to think for a moment about these people who he loves who are gone forever.

Neither would I... but the internet is open for everything.... from women filming parts of their abortion experiences to memorial tributes for dead babies, dying relatives and their funerals.
