D has a chronic pain condition, which I've mentioned once or twice. She had cancer surgery 10 years ago wherein they took out a golfball sized chunk of muscle in her shoulder. The initial operation resulted in unavoidable nerve damage and later on developed two herniated discs, not uncommon for someone with musculoskeletal issues. On top of that her endometriosis incapacitates her every month when aunt flo comes. It's not unusual for her to pass out due to the pain.

She never really smokes weed. However, I bring home a half eighth every now and then and share it with her when shark week starts. Opiates work to an extent, but the tolerance develops very quickly. But nothing works quite like the devil's lettuce. It becomes a normal period. It doesn't upend our lives.

People who voted no on this should be ashamed.

and yeah - about D and her pain issues - i hope she finds a solution to her problem. :/ sucks that old white people feel that voting no to something like medical MJ is justified.

I totally get the importance for it medically. As for making it legal to everyone - ugh... If they can make it not smell so fucking foul, that would be great. I have a friend who likes it and he always reeks. And I find tobacco smell to be fine; (even downright sexy when mingling with certain aftershaves) but pot just hits my senses like a ton of bricks...!

While I'm ashamed that people voted no on prop 2, I think I'm more upset that for decades now every time I go downtown I'm surrounded by idiots with clip boards collecting signatures for some marijuana law.

Really you idiots couldn't even get out and vote? Only 3.3 million people came out to vote for medical marijuana?

It didn't fail because people voted against it, it failed because idiots didn't come out and vote for it, this also probably would have pushed Scott out.

obviously someone who commits crime to fuel a drug habit deserves to be prosecuted.

otherwise, it is my opinion that enforcement of drug crimes for drug abusers does much more harm than good.

if you took all drug users, gave them a free rehab/detox meds/therapy whenever they wanted, provided them with pure pharmaceutical grade drugs and medically safe places to take drugs, there would be very little drug crime (if any) - both on a supply side, and a user side. there would be a lot more "functioning addicts", and while that is not ideal, it is better than addicts who are stealing and getting hep C etc. putting public money into counseling and rehab etc rather than jails to house drug users would do more good in the long run.

wanting to feel good is human nature. doing it often and with hard drugs hints at a different mental health issue that needs exploration.

i mean, i could have been arrested for possession of drugs many times. it would have decidedly ruined a lot of my opportunities - just having a record, even though I no longer use drugs and have most of my life ahead of me. That's ridiculous.
