Project update

Because of my job this year I can't take the course my psychiatrist contact wants me to take to develop my assessment. It just doesn't fit into my schedule. So instead he said I can study questionnaire design on my own and use what I learned to develop my assessment. So I ordered a questionnaire design book off of amazon and have started making changes. And I have shown the changes to him and he has some additional changes he wants me to make before he shows it to anyone again.

you know people get phds and study for years if not a decade + just to write dissertations to prove things or explore character traits etc. it is baffling to me that you don't even care enough to make sure you can take one little class but think you're going to revolutionize psychology or some shit.

It's not about not caring enough. It's just not something I can do at this point in time cus of my job. And he understands that. So this is the alternative. Studying on my own. This was his idea.

When you want to do something that is very important, you find a way to make it happen. I'm not saying you are lying or anything like that, only that you undercut the importance of your own ideas but not even figuring out how to attend one single class. If you believe so strongly in your idea, there is some way to make this happen. You might just think it's not that important, and that is your prerogative. But you have a choice.

how do you publish your work in a peer reviewed journal if you don't have the credentials?

If it's not peer reviewed and you don't have credentials nobody in the field is going to pay any attention to it. Which means that there's no serious feedback or checks on the legitimacy of the work.

He's already gotten people in the field to pay attention to it. He had some professors and psychologists taking the assessment on the survey site but they couldn't get any results because there weren't any directions on the page on how to score everything. So he had me go back and add that. And now he wants me to study questionnaire design so I can learn how to modify this before he shows it to them again. He knows what hes doing. I trust him.

I don't get why he's humoring you, to be honest. It's nice that you have a hobby project, but I can't see how it'd attract the attention of anyone interested in science-based psychology. And if they are into the unscientific side of psychology, then there's already so much made up stuff out there. Why would they want any more of it, from a person who hasn't taken a single psychology class?

not only will virtually nobody in the field take this seriously, nobody in the field will even know it exists. Never mind that without the proper study, training and back round there is no way in hell you'd someone would happen to stumble upon something that would be used effectively let alone revolutionize the field of psychology.

I know no one is going to take this seriously until the assessment is validated. That's what he's striving for. He wants universities s to first validate the assessment and then eventually use it in classes. And he's already gotten some initially interested in the thing.

This is an interesting talk by a guy who collects the various letters that come into his university's physics department from people who believe they've done things like discrediting Einstein in spite of a clear lack of knowledge of basic calculus.

It is long, but you get the general idea of the whole talk within the first 20 minutes or so.

I do not know you but I pray daily that God blesses you because you are the best thing that ever happened to youtube. I enjoy videos so much. You are a blessing to us elderly people who are just tired of looking at the stuff they have on tv. I told them at the center that if anybody could have Dynasty with Diahhn Carrol and the movie Christmas Eve with Loretta Young, t would be you. You mean the world to us. I just learned how to operate a computer. My friends are leaning now at the senior citizen center they are finally teaching us a class. Isn't that great?
