Hey now, Elhpy is Trotskies protege. It's a mentor/student type of relationship... Nothing wrong with that.

I, in fact, have never commented on the wrongness of it and have only commented with albeit rather scathing affection

Trotsky has accused me of the hatecrush, first I will defend my honour with words. Then we shall summon the witnesses and put one of us to death. It is the only way

It's the reason why old people retire and then get alzheimer's within 5-10 years.

The brain is meant to be challenged and focused on a regular basis. If you're just sitting around doing nothing your brain will rot. That's why it's good to be an old fuck and still working or at least still creating art and living life at a consistent level.

How come you never hear poor people that work their face off say that a hard day's work is good for the mind/soul?

Why are you making this about me? Likely I'll be a janitor or other shitty job they warn you about. But it has nothing to do with what I'm talking about

Well, obviously theres a line in the sand. Being a workaholic isn't doing the mind any good. It's all about challenging the mind and keeping it exercised to a certain level on a daily basis. Work is a way to accomplish that.

You see these people on welfare and what not and most of them aren't in a very good emotional state. Even people that win the lottery and coast on that have been shown to have a greater risk at having psychiatric problems.

Definitely spending most of my adult life not working (making a living but not working per se) i think has really fucked me up and fucked up any chance at ever having any kind of fairly normal life.

Ehhh. It's never too late to right the ship man. When I was younger and out of school I didn't hold a job for a couple years and my mental problems really came to the forefront and my emotional stability was in the gutter. I put a lot of work into bettering myself but working a steady job really was one of the major factors in alleviating those problems.

Strange, that. Because according to this:

Cooks are right at the bottom of the heap of wages. Even the very highest paid chefs get a middling wage compared to some of the upper percentiles of other industries. The conditions are really high stress, too.
