Franz Ferdinand is not at all "cock rock". The singer is flamboyant and talks about have sex with dudes sometimes. They have dance songs. And a lot of their lyrics are very clever. I'm a big fan of their music and have probably heard all their albums but they were never a band where I felt like I needed to know more about the musicians personally.
And it's like the reason it was a source of tension I'm guessing is because "what the fuck how can call yourself a punk and support Republicans"
