once again my favorite Christian response for the cruelty of their religious traditions and scripture is when they choose to ignore garbage like that. Usually with some kind of justification that "times have changed" or "fallible humans wrote the bible".

13 If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her, dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,” 15 then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin. 16 Her father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels[b] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

Its only natural that the woman who was desecrated against her (alleged, if yknow what i mean) will but was not pledged to be married shall be punished by marrying her rapist. she should not have made herself appear rape-able. Anyway no one else will want her now, stupid bitch, because her sexual organs have now been penetrated making them obviously unusable now (it's science) and it's likely no one wanted her to begin with because she wasn't pledged so might as well give it to the guy you know, I mean he was willing to hit it. Surely they will be happy together. I call that a sound solution.

Come to think of it, it was likely a popular way to find a wife if no woman wanted you. There is the annoyance of the fifty shekels though. Not sure how much that adds up to with inflation now but i imagine a homeless guy couldn't gather such an amount. What happens if you can't pay though i wonder? Probably when the girl was considered un-marriable to begin with the father might have waived the fee, finally they found someone to marry her to, that's worth a fifty.

Because I enjoy reading ancient accounts of God I shouldn't dismiss scientific explanations and theories written for the general (uneducated) public? That's a non sequitur.

I guess that leaves us in the same position - I don't subscribe to anything. I trust what I'm doing with my life is worth doing. But I don't think there's more evidence for my point of view than anyone else's. My trust doesn't make sense. I do it anyway because for me, it's better than they alternative.

When I posted here drunk, back in the day, no one believed I was wasted because I made only one or two typos. Really, I was aware I was drunk and so made a concerted effort to type every word slowly and with accuracy.

I think a lot of drunk posters kinda spread it a little thick with the typoes. It's like omg i'm so drunk look.

and yeah its totally possible to be pretty drunk and still appear mainly alright. Now i havent been drunk in 20 years but i remember getting pretty drunk once in the presence of my brother (which happened only once) and he told me later i didn't appear or sound much different than i normally did. Because i was making an effort not to look or sound drunk. i'd had like 6 beers. Of course if you're nearly passed out drunk than you can't really do anything to not look or sound it.
