Talking about and recognizing the existence of a problem is a step in the direction of a solution. Awareness spreading is the whole point of any sort of protest. When enough people begin to become aware of an issue things begin to change.

Police get away with this shit because we don't talk about it enough. But if the police have to worry about a riot and a trial every time a cop decides to use lethal force against an unarmed black teenager, I bet we'll see a lot less of it.

And there's plenty of legislation I would support that would help solve this problem. But we can't even begin to think about solving the issue until the country is entirely aware that there are legitimate issues here.

About half the country or so still thinks Zimmerman was innocent.
