Default I hate when people complain all day about how busy they are at work

I don't care. Be more interesting, or stop talking to me.

I was guilty of this but it was a traumatic life event.

I hate when people talk about how busy they are outside of work and how its stressing them out. YOU ARE DOING FREE TIME WRONG

I dunno who T is but if they are your person or SO than that's different. I'm talking more like while at work people who make it a point to talk about how just overwhelmed and *big sigh* busy they are, or like trots said, during happy hour. Stfu

"What did you do over the weekend, Scott?"

"Rode my bike, walked my dogs, went to a movie, drank some beer."

"Well, you can get away with that because you don't have kids."

That sounds terrible. I've been told we have free time and more money because "well it's easy with one kid". Yeah motherfucker that's why we only have one. Its not a fucking contest; you don't win points based on how many kids you shit out.

This is why school functions are going to be hell for me now that V is in school. I feel I have zero in common with parents. "So what do you do?" "I read books and go to shows and fuck around with a band in my basement. No I won't join the PTA and no I don't care about your kid. Where is the cheap beer?"

Yes, thanks for reminding me that I don't count as adult as long as I don't have a kid.

me: woa, band xy is touring, I need a ticket!
dad xy: you sure enjoy life, one gig after the other, wait until you have kids and need to grow up.

Uhuh.
Omfg I'd rage.

Counter their point by telling them there's a dude you know in Kansas city who says parenting is overrated and also he hasn't grown up.

one of the guys i play d&d with has a kid, is chill and still has fun. i mean he has obligations but i think d and my buddy and his wife kind of show that the people who think that their life gets put on hold for children are actually doing it wrong.

i mean i'm sure it's one of those things where they were constantly busy to begin with, working on this and that and going here and there and over there and now it's the same thing just dragging the kid all over the place

also can i ask when they talk to you like this why don't you go

well, where the fuck is your kid right now?

OR

"Hey don't be too jealous, whatever you're doing there is...you know fine or whatever. I'm gonna go have fun now, bye!"

what is it with people who think growing up means your life sucks. aren't they really miserable and crying out for help when they say these sad passive aggressive things?

i honestly don't think many of them do, i think when people say that kind of stuff to pave they're really just trying to drag her down because they are very jealous

people like my cousin who are happy to have a litter of children don't talk like that.
the people who are miserable do.

It's entirely possible I'm not a busy person because I actively avoid doing shit I don't like and purposely strive to enjoy personal over professional.

like i was ranting about in the other thread, it seems like some in our generation have this inexplicable need to be constantly occupied with some kind of "productive" activity. i've actually read studies that have found that this is a variety of procrastination so that you have an easy excuse when you don't get anything done "i was soooo busy"

because most of the people who don't manage their time well and are constantly busy and complainign about how busy they are don't seem to be very productive. meanwhile, i know artists that hang out and chill and get a lot done

it really is an illusion of productivity by creating a mystique of busyness

the guardian actually likes to write about this fairly often

I know a lot of people who keep themselves busy to make their time more scarce and valuable.

Everyone wants to hang out with them because they never have time

sometimes i think it'd be neat if i could have a kid. i'd name him or her chauntay or traydell or barkavious or shaniqua or some "black" name that would piss white people off

but they would only end up with bipolar disorder and why would i want to spread that around
