i was wondering.. if there is a god, then why do people die? doesn't god have the powers to bring them back

What do people even mean by the meaning of life?

It makes as much sense as asking what the meaning of a chair or a cup is.

I realise that they're really asking what the purpose of life is, but I don't know why anyone would ask what the meaning of life is when it's a question that doesn't make sense in the first place.

I don't understand Christianity. I'm confused as to why Jesus died for our sins. What did that accomplish, when everyone is a sinner. Did his death and ascension conquer satan?

Another thing I don't understand is why almost every Jesus movie depicts him as a white man with golden brown hair and blue eyes. I asked this question on a youtube video for Son of God and was attacked for being "racist".

i always thought it was pretty obtuse too. like soldiers for example, they sacrifice their lives for us. should i worship every single individual one. i know that doesnt equate to "dying for my sins" but most door-to-door type xtians try to 'debate' me from that angle: "he DIED for YOU"
...
and i understand the theoretical implications of god's son dying. but don't we all suffer for other people's transgressions. i get the allegory it just seems weird thats the main selling point for christianity.

also jesus is historically proven to be white. for one he's american in the paintings. also there happens to be a little book that proves it called the bible.. maybe you shpuld look into it

Jesus' time on Earth was spent spreading the good news that ANYONE, yes, ANYONE can go be forgiven by God and get an all-access pass to the universe's coolest luxury resort in the sky for eternity. God the Father had to sacrifice his Son in order to implant this message on Earth, however. This further underlines the infinite grace of God, who gives to his human children without any thought of recompense. The only catch is that you must have true faith and you must be penitent for the bad things you have done. Other than that, you're good. Look how easy it was for you, and how much God had to give up. Obviously this is the religion to belong to, because instead of being asked to die for God, God just dies for you and all you have to do is be loyal to him. What a great guy, who can argue with that? Jesus' coming does eventually lead to the downfall of Satan too, but you have to wait for the sequel to see how it unfolds.

tl;dr

when people say Jesus died for our sins, he died in order to plant the seed of the true faith that will lead people to salvation, whereas before his coming no one knew the right path and no one went to heaven.

although the NO ONE went to heaven thing became a theological point of contention in the early Church and ideas like the Harrowing of Hell were introduced wherein maybe some people pre-Jesus were allowed to go to heaven after all. The Gospels also have different takes on Judaism's relationship to the true faith, whether the Jews were just dead wrong or whether Judaism was the first stage in the correct path, just incomplete in its execution
