i watched the promotional video that's on netflix lately hoping for insight and although the "film" wished me to ask no questions and accept these boys for what they were i'm pretty sure they're basically the furry equivalent of pederasts

it's very bad, like it's just a puff piece paid by some people involved with the show to promote the fandom and the show. they don't really get into it very deep, it's about hugs and smiles and etc

A furry is a broad term. It just kind of narrows down animated bestiality, specifically ponies.
