yeah more info is needed. do you have designated spaces in your complex? or do you just have window tag permit things? why would they tow it just for not being used in the last few days? And why is anyone watching your car closely enough to know that?

no fucking idea.

i really don't need this right now. we currently have 40 dollars to last us until next friday (not including the amount i had to overdraft on my own card to fill up my gas tank) and the towing place is asking 110 to let me get it out.

so fucking pissed. i really need to come down from this.

no fucking idea. a max of 50% of all the spaces inthe complex is actually occupied by a car. so it's not like there was a shortage of spaces. my car isn't in bad shape either. it's messy on the inside but that's it.

i need the biggest fucking joint right now.

because apartment complexes don't do anything that quickly unless they have really unreasonable cranks breathing down their neck

and besides that's the only way they'd know. neighbors have to complain about a "dead vehicle" and also they are supposed to put a sticker on your car for fair warning

they alleged a sticker was placed there, but it's not unreasonable for it to sit there only 5 days consiering the tags are up to date and the apartment complex actually has my license plate and VIN on file so really the best way to notify me would be to contact me directly.

fucking shitheads.

I don't know what your local laws are, but I don't believe they can legally tow a car as "dead" or abandoned when its registration and tags are up to date. I'm still kind of scratching my head as to what the reason they gave you was for the tow? You should demand they pay your release fee, and if they don't get your lawyer to send them a letter. and then you will get your money

This makes no sense and as presented could be a case of property theft IMO.

yeah like I said, I am still not sure what exactly happened. Apparently Bread Regal spoke to the management and they told him something about the car being towed away because it had sat for too long, but that doesn't make sense. Why would they tow a car with up to date tag and registration? Does your lease specifically say you may not let a car sit a certain number of days? That also makes no sense if it does, but I can't think of any other grounds for having towed the car

can you like explain in detail what exactly the management of your complex told you and what questions you asked? I know I said it twice already but I don't think I fully understand what they said happened

this is the relevant part of the rental agreement that apparently entitles them to steal people's property:

Quote:
Parking lots are not to be used for abandoned of inoperable vehicles. The determination of whether a vehicle is abandoned or inoperable shall be within the discretion of Management, but a vehicle will be deemed to be inoperable if not "street legal".
Which I guess means "we can just assume any vehicle is abandoned or inoperable".

They said that on Friday, they put a sticker on it that would show if the car had been moved or not.

That's really the substance of everything the cunt in the office told me.

I asked, "what if one of us was sick or didn't need to drive for a week or simply went out of town for a week" and she literally just stared at me.

one time i was takin my dog for a shit and i was outside someone's window and she peeked through the blinds

well she was mentally ill or mentally challenged, she used to walk up and down the parking lot with a chair

so her personal care assistant came out and immediately started accusing me of peeping in on her

and i'm like "are you serious you fuckin shitstain, my dog had to take a crap, i don't even want to look at that lady when she's mumbling up and down the parking lot fuck you get bent and drop dead"

that shut her up quick

evil works

well I guess it is up to you how much hassle you want to put yourself through but I would personally make life miserable for the property manager. I would first schedule an appointment to speak to him/her and ask for credit for future rent amounting to the total cost of the release fee. Calmly explain that 5 days is an unreasonably short time to assume a vehicle is abandoned. Ask a lot a retardedly stupid questions such as how many other people have been towed for not using their cars for five days, how can you feel safe even leaving your car for any amount of time now knowing that they can tow it whenever they want, etc., etc. I'm sure you can think of stupider things to say/ask, just waste as much of this person's time as possible. Maybe also scribble some notes intermittently. If the property manager won't help you, tell him/her you must report the incident to his/her supervisor. Not sure what the case is with your complex, but a lot of apartment complexes are not independently operated, rather owned by companies that operate many different such complexes. If this is the case, just go clear over the person's head and keep taking it up the ladder as far as you need to until you get a rent credit. If they still refuse, tell them you are going to picket the rental office. If they STILL refuse, actually picket the rental office. If you stand on a public sidewalk they have literally no power to remove you.

like I said I guess it comes down to how much hassle you are willing to go through, but having lived in apartments my whole life, I have experienced too much abuse at the hands of management companies to allow them to get away with something like this

other legitimate threats you could make:

giving the complex shitty reviews all over the internet. there are reviews for fucking everything now, I'm sure there are places you can tell everyone not to rent there.

contacting your state's better business bureau (or equivalent thereof). they probably can't do anything but it would still be a hassle for the management to have to deal with
