spike Lee oldboy remake

has anyone here bothered seeing it and what are your thoughts. i don't know if i even want to give it a chance.

i read the thread title as 'spike ladyboy' .. got excited there for a minute

honestly i thought oldboy was kind of a mess of a movie to begin with. i don't think it's one of those sacrosanct things that can just never be remade, and spike lee did some good stuff like summer of sam, so it could be okay

I mean I'm curious in which way Lee fucks it up, but the original is not "kind of a mess."

i understand i'm in the minority with that opinion

i do think the plot was super original, the ending was great... just how it got from point A to point B seemed kind of clumsy and not too greatly paced.

but i haven't seen it in over half a decade, so i'm not going to do cartwheels trying to defend myself on that. ... maybe it's something with eastern cinema in general. i didn't care for iichi the killer either while everybody raves about it

just oldboy. i was under the impression oldboy was more or less a stand alone movie, otherwise i would've watched the other two

Summer of Sam was great at times and then really fucking awful at times. It was kind of all over the place.

i was watching it a few months ago and it held up really well except for the ending. i'm surprised it get glossed over when people mention the "classics" of 15-ish years ago
