Two things on this, first no it isnt just those plans-the Admin wrote the grandfather rules so even minimal changes to plans still around when the bill passed would disqualify a plan from being grandfathered in.

Second-assuming the insurance companies were trying to profit as much as possible (Who couldve seen that one coming? Good thing we didnt just force the entire country to buy shit from them...oh wait) and kicking people off left and right the president himself never left any wiggle room when making his statements, repeatedly, that if you liked your plan you could keep your plan PERIOD.

I dont remember seeing a specific figure tied to the "your plans is shit your life will be better under ACA" stuff before, a link to that 95% figure would be appreciated

Euro I want to thank you, this is the closest anyone has ever come to telling me a path forward from ACA to single-payer (Not counting Eulogy repeatedly avoiding the question and blurting out "demographics" once). I dont really think that has a hope, there will be no will to do it. You are very very optimistic. Very.

Very.

This is Obama's The Matrix moment. Both are situations where computers happen.

This is Obama's meteor hitting the Earth. Both are situations where people are not happy.

This is Obama's giant tsunami in Japan. The government was unable to stop both from happening and now there is a crisis.

Surely this will end the liberal love in America and usher in a new era of young, pro-gun, pro-life Reaganauts.

so i was thinking that perhaps obama will turn out to be an agent of change because he's so terrible and the republican party is even more horrible that we actually have a real agent of change elected in the next cycle

LOL yeah right we have to fall into anarchy at this point to destabilize the entrenched neo-aristocracy that controls the government through lobbyists, PACs, and secret contributions.

You clearly missed my sarcasm\point, you implied that somehow the insurance mandate was unfair compared to the car insurance mandate because if you don't own a car you don't need insurance. But everyone(except the Amish, christian scientists, so on, who aren't mandated) uses the healthcare system at some point, in other words everyone has a car.

Yes the numbers are lower than expected, not a surprise given the state of the website, but Even with those problems signup is outpacing the Romneycare numbers. Enrollment was always expected to start slow and build up, peaking a few weeks before the hard deadline, just like Romneycare did. So yeah it really is just a glitchy website that is getting less glitchy every week.

Actually there was a lot of leeway for those plans to be changed and keep their status. The only changes that would make a plan lose grandfathered status are ones that make a plan even less compliant with the law than it was in the first place.

Yes, they should have foreseen the insurance companies gaming the system, but I'm not sure what could have been done to stop it completely anyway. It probably could have been reduced somewhat, but you have to give companies time to be compliant with new regulations and that period of time is going to provide the opportunity to take advantage. Even if the date for grandfathering had been this year, most of these companies would have slashed all their existing plans to have them grandfathered in worse condition than they were in the first place, unarguably a worse situation than what did happen. Saying that the president lied because companies gamed the system is reaching. He made a good faith effort to ensure that promise, the fact is the law says that if you have the same(or improved) plan you had when the bill was signed you can keep that plan.

Excuse me, never meant for that to be an actual number, just a figure of speech, I apologize for typing like I would talk. However (even though I hate anecdotal evidence) of the dozens of instances I've seen reported on in the press I'm aware of only 1 case where a good plan was cancelled, even Fox news has an article saying most of the ones being cancelled were crap.
