I am comfortable talking to people face to face, and i am comfortable communicating with people through the written word. The phone is an uncomfortable medium for me, in which you can hear a human voice but cannot make judgements on his/her reactions through body language or facial expressions. It's off-putting to me. I'm definitely not detached or unemotional at all.

I am more comfortable in person as well. If forced to use the phone, I'd rather text people I don't know well and talk to those I do know well.

When I was more socially anxious, I couldn't even get myself to use the phone. Talking or otherwise. I think it was more the idea of being open to intrusion at any moment that scared me and also just being a human with wants/needs made me want to stab myself.
