Default One of the biggest travesties out there is that Mel Gibson is blackballed in hollywoo

He is an absolute rare talent at directing movies. People love to hate on Braveheart and point to some historical inaccuracies as if every other movie based around some historical event or story isn't filled with them. Apocalypto was amazing. Passion of the Christ wasn't even that bad but it being a heavily religious movie turns people off of it. He was set to release a Vikings movie where they all spoke Norse. Apocalypto with Vikings and starting Dicaprio. God damn that movie would have been awesome.

Get the Gringo was mediocre. And his latest Machete Kills looks horrible. I wonder if he would still get Liam Neeson type roles if it wasn't for all of his terrible antics that landed him in trouble.

I'm not talking about him acting, I'm talking about him directing. And the pressure from the Jews caused Leo to back out of the Viking movie which basically killed it.

Maybe this has something to do with him telling his wife he was going to put her in the rose garden?

Yeah why should that matter at all though when it comes to stopping one of the most talented artists of our time being black balled from being able to create his art. That is how good of a directer he is. All the great artists are fucked up. His personal life shouldn't stop him from being able to direct movies as long as it's not illegal. Polanski took nude pics of a kid and fucked her and he's still winning Oscars.

Being blackballed has meant that all he can do is act instead of direct. First and foremost he's an actor. He's known more for acting than directing. So essentially his antics haven't stopped him from having a career just like Polanski's antics didn't stop him from having a career.

Well I'm not talking about his acting since his real talent is at director where he is one of the most talented that there is today you stupid fuck.

How can you say for sure what his real talent is when he's only directed like three films but has acted in so many more? You're comparing something he's fairly new at to something he's been doing for five decades.

Because he has directed some truly great movies that show a very unique talent. For him to have been able to create the movies he has in such a small amount of attempts is remarkable. It's a god damn shame we aren't seeing anything more from him. It'd been 7 years since he last directed a movie and there is nothing on the horizon for him. That Viking movie would have been incredible if it were made.

he's one of my favorite directors, even though there aren't many films to go by. shame he doesn't just lay low and direct smaller scale films under a different pseudonym or something.

That movie cumed 370 Million worldwide. Just because the American mainstream doesn't give it its due, doesn't mean it wasn't popular.

honestly if a guy is good at what he does i couldn't care less how much of a shit he is in his personal life. you don't experience art (or, in some cases, "art") looking for a friend

i don't have any sympathy for him doing C grade direct to DVD movies now.. but he may as well get back in the directors chair assuming some studio out there would flip him the coin

among all the other shit, the thing that bothers me most about him is that most of the money he made from the passion he kept for himself. he basically scammed a bunch of churches into spending ridiculous amounts of tithe to buy out movie theatres for a week. you guys remember that shit? and instead of like, giving it to soup kitchens and whatnot he just...kept the money.

no see that's all time, star was wasn't even the highest grossing film for a long time, used to be ET forever and ever before the hollywood started using advanced statistics or something to maximize blockbusters. that figure must count the re-release as well.
