And a woman that I work with was saying during our kid's gym class about how much she hates the whole idea of LGBT sensitivity training and how homosexuality shouldn't be accepted in the workplace. But then she actually says something surprising. She mentions that her father came out the closet and turned out to be gay. And he has AIDS.

Can you imagine having a parent who reveals themselves to be gay? That must have had quite an effect on her.

the important question is not about AIDS but about the gayness.

My dad is a big faggot and now he has AIDS, so I don't like LGBT awareness stuff because I don't like the gays, but that's okay because i hate my gay dad and if you only knew what it was like to have a homo dad with aids you'd hate the homos too.

(my first question would be "Does your dad really have AIDS or are you just that angry?")

a girl (17y/o) i work with has two dads. one of them was in my line with his partner. he told me he came to buy something but mostly to see [name redacted] so i said 'oh how do you guys know each other', thinking i dunno, it never even crossed my mind that he was her dad... i just thought he knew her and ran into her at the store and was saying he came to see her as a funny thing to say.

and he said 'she's our daughter' and i was like oh. ohhhhh im sorry. i felt like such an asshole. i'm sure if he had not be obviously gay and had said exactly the same thing i'd have assumed he was her father. so, def some prejudice or whatever going on in my brain.

not sure if she's adopted or what the deal is

seems to me like the dad was probably homophobic while he was in the closet and taught her to be, and then when he reveled himself it really fucked with her.

i think if one of my parents came out of the closet i'd be fine with it. who cares really.
