Default So GRAVITY was as incredible as expected.

In some ways even more so

I love when movies raise the bar

Don't be a loser...see it in IMAX 3D while you can...it's crafted for the format

Saw the trailer for it in 3D when I went to see Pacific Rim and it looked pretty mind-boggling. Going probably wednesday to the Imax just around the corner from my house.

I kinda hated Bullock coming into this film. Last thing I saw her in was Crash which was abysmal. She totally redeems herself

It wasn't incredible. It was good but it wasn't great. Children of Men was easily better but it was nice to see the long one shot takes again. Can't wait for what he does next.

Pray tell Banana, what are some films you would deem "incredible"

Children of Men for one.

Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. The Matrix. Pan's Labyrinth. Fight Club. The Thin Read Line. Apocalypse Now. The original Star Wars Trilogy and the LotR trilogy. I could go on and on.

Gravity was an entertaining movie and is worth seeing. I wouldn't call it incredible though or even great, it doesn't really offer all that much that demands repeated viewing. Didn't have a great story or character development, it was basically an amusement ride in movie form. And there's nothing wrong with that but that doesn't make an incredible movie.

I hate to say it but I agree with Banana. Visually it was absolutely spectacular and the sound design/scoring was great. But Clooney doing his Clooney thing was way out of place with the tone of the film ad the General Hollywoodness of it all left a bad taste in my mouth. Also I don't know what I expected but holy shit this film was SO stressful to watch. But again - visually unprecedented. Some of those shots (especially the one early on where Bullock has come loose and is floating against the starfield) made all the hairs on my body stand on end.

it was stunning and the pov shots were so disorienting and anxiety-inducing! but yeah could've done without george clooney being astronaut george clooney though the comic relief was kind of welcome. sandra bullock's wig was terrible but she was great. just wish she'd have actually cut her hair. the fact that it didn't move was distracting.

i don't even need to see the movie to know that the special effects are probably an affront to classical mechanics and optics. most movies are.

having studied physics for only a year, i find that pretty distracting. i can't imagine what it'd be like for actual physicists.

YES YES YES. Especially regarding the wig distraction and Clooney being Clooney.

Obviously incredible visually and my heart was in my throat most of the movie but I don't know. The whole thing about her daughter seemed shoe-horned in, I think that might be my biggest quibble. Somebody mentioned Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as being better overall. Visually stunning, great story and just emotionally devastating. After seeing Gravity I thought more about the visuals after but with seeing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I wanted to cry and barf at the same time so I could immediately watch it again. And pretty much every time I have watched it since I have felt the same way.
