unless it's to catch up and hang out with people, hitting the bars for nothing else to do can be pretty depressing.

my best friend and i like to go to this dirty old man dive here so we can sit and draw and smoke and drink whiskey and not be bothered.

dance parties>

bars are places my grandpa would go to get out of the house that's quiet with a turned down jukebox full of country music.

i usually combine the drinking for the taste and the alcohol abuse. works perfectly fine, especially in the beginning.

I don't like bars at all, never really have but there's this rad barcade in town here called dorkys that I love. I've only been once but it was prolly the most fun I had drinking in public

I didn't expect such a large proportion of people here that downright dislike bars.

you could always try burp castle, with a running accompaniment of gregorian chant and bartenders who will shush you if you get too loud.

i hate not being able to hear someone at the same table as me.

but you need loud music to boogie. i really love weddings for the chance to dance.

A site historically full of antisocial loners, you didn't expect many to dislike social atmospheres? Seriously?

there are some cool bars in my city. alot of them are dives where you can just chill, eat hotwings or whatever and play pac man or galaga or whatever. or you can play pool and be more social. .... but i'm kind of stuck in strip mall hell so i just drink at home or at a friends'

see this is one of the shitty things i think there's a real smug sense of superiority about some of you, when the reason you're at a bar is so you can get a beer in you because social situations make you feel uncomfortable anyway

you know why i don't like bars these days? because most of the people i know from my time in them are alcoholics or otherwise boring, self centered blowhards. it was fun for a bit but 10 years it's getting real old, real fast.

and the only people defending bars in this thread suck real bad so that, again, is making my argument for me

She went down on me and started sucking my cock, I was thinking the whole time 'this is weird as fuck I shouldn't be doing this' but she was really good at it, like basically swallowing the whole fucking thing.

Anyway, it carried on for a bit before she grabbed me by the dick and pulled me onto her bed, undressing instantly. I was like 'well fuck it, we've come this far, might as well go through with it' and so I carried on.

I started licking her pussy, tasted nice, especially for an older woman... for some reason I assumed it would be nasty but it wasn't. It all felt horribly wrong but at the same time my boner was basically ripping through my boxers so I wasn't stopping for shit. I slipped a couple of fingers in and she started moaning like crazy, told me to put more fingers in. I continued until I had like 4 fingers up there, she was still moaning like fuck so I put my whole hand in there, she was going crazy, writhing around in ecstasy crying 'MORE! MORE!' so I continued fucking her with my whole hand. Still she was saying 'MORE! MORE!'.

I was still licking her pussy with my whole hand up there, I didn't know what to do next so I was all like 'what more do you need?!' and she was like 'I need about tree fiddy.' I said 'what the fuck you mean you need tree fiddy?' She just said again 'I need about tree fiddy.' It was about that time I realised that my friend's mom was in fact an 8 story tall crustacean from the Paleozoic era! I said 'damn you Loch Ness Monster! I aint giving you no tree fiddy, you get your own damn money!' and left immediately.

After that we never spoke of it again and I regret the whole thing entirely.

You're going to the wrong bars or with the wrong people then. Seriously, there are million different atmospheres available. One of my faves is The Gibson - http://thegibsondc.com/ - no loud music, small tucked-away spots for conversation, etc.

Find a better pub, drink, socialize, profit.

The Gibson is wonderful. I miss it.

And trots is just bitter about yet another thing people enjoy that he doesn't. Big fucking surprise.

Like, sorry you don't have good friends and good bars. Doesn't mean people who do are wrong. Your experiences are not universal. Get that through your head. Or shut the fuck up. Your call.

you really can't handle it when people don't like what you think is important, so i think you really should take a look at yourself any time you get all uppity about threads like this

what i meant was that, if at least part of your enjoyment from drinking is sensory/aesthetic then, if you are curious and have the means to try new things, your palate/tastes/preferences are going to develop over time

as for someone who drinks solely with the intention of getting shitfaced, and is just as happy downing shots of everclear as they are sipping a flute of cristal or whatever, that's obviously different
