Default computer problem

okay, i'm on my brothers computer, the kid uses kaaza, not lite and has spyware everywhere. i've run some programs to get rid of the spy and ad ware and got a pop up killer

the only wierd thing still going on is whenever i use a search engine like google it doesn't do a real search, all that comes up is sites to buy things from, basically commercial websites and it looks different too. like normally google has the actual url underneath, not anymore. a pop up used to come up that i figured caused it. now the pop up doesn't come up due to the pop up killer, but the search is still shitty.

just curious as to if anyone has ever had this problem, if not i'm sure i'll figure it out eventually. i swear this kid has so much shit on his computer.

there might be 2 possibilities:

1st) some spyware reconfigured your proxy-server and uses one which substitutes the real google for a fake one

2nd) something changed yout etc/host file and added a different ip for the google.com dns. you can faind that file in the windows directory under system32/drivers/etc it's just called "host"

that's all i can think of...well actually there is the possibility that one spyware is still running and captures your http-requests for google and redirects them

i dunno, but my new 120 gig hd makes really loud clicking noises and wouldn't let me install an os on it. i ran a diagnostic and it says there are too many errors to reports and to contact western digital. this makes me sad.

the one you want to look at is the hosts without any numbers...or better still, compare the one without numbers to the ones with the numbers to see what has ben changed

i'm sorry, i seem to have forgottan an "s" there...
