Default ACA and Obama's pen

Curios if you all have any feelings about Obama striking out quite a bit of the ACA recently. Expectations for savings have been shown to be wrong, the income mandate and employee mandate essentially gone.

I haven't really studied all the changes myself yet, but here is the delay in employee healthcare mandate (http://www.nonprofitquarterly.org/po...ntil-2015.html).

Here is info about the income part (http://www.californiahealthline.org/...cation-process).

Obama's administration delayed the employee mandate. From most nonpartisan reports I've read, the ACA has been found to greatly increase costs. My company's insurance premiums went up 37 percent specifically due to cited ACA costs, for instance.

I'm for the provision generally, support universal healthcare, but have always questioned the ACA's cost controlling measures. We'll see where this goes, but Obama's actions have weakened it before it began really.

The reform is already making an impact on the working poor up here. With a loss in pay due to the "taxes", and loss of insurance that people already had, once their job was cut to part time. There's been a jump in applicants for SNAP and the local churches are in need of more donations for food.

Mostly the problems that I have heard is, people who have lost hours, wages, and insurance they already had, and don't know how they will afford to buy into a plan. I don't see how it's a good thing. We need something, but this isn't it.

It's a Clusterfuck. It's meant to be. end game is to rid private insurance and private practices with everyone on the guv system to be tracked and monitored for 'healthy' behavior. It's a collective now, so the state basically gives itself this right. Don't forget compliance will be enforced by the IRS.

but nah, nothing Stasi or Stalinistic about any of it. Nothing to see here, move along...

that's nonsense. there's nothing in the ACA to incentivize employers to drop health care or fire people. In fact, there's an incentive for small employers to actually offer health insurance.

While early, there's no data yet to suggest that the trend of employers dropping health insurance benefits has deviated at all from the rate that we've seen over the past decade.

One thing that is happening, though. Is that employers are using it as an excuse and cover for what they were going to do anyway.
