really aren't that many ys

they almost invariably end with ov or vich if they are russian male, often ova for women, for example Federov would be male and Federova would be his sister. there's itch and the like

ukranian names often end in enko

yugoslavian names usually end in ic but it's pronounced like ich, so related to their slavic cousins

romanian names have lots of vowels and generally end in a u, they are not slavic like russians or yugoslavians. romanian is in fact a Romance language.

czech and slovak last names have a lot of variety, i just looked up a list and one of them is Chalupa which is hysterical and i know of a hockey player from slovakia named SATAN. Unfortunately he never played for the Devils.

Polish names are a clusterfuck of consonants and often end in ski

actually looking at it the -itch ending is actually usually the middle name. russians have a complicated roman-esque system of three names. it's like the given, the diminutive of the father's first name and then the family name

so it's vladimir vladimirovitch putin, because his pop was also vladimir

my last next door neighbor was eastern european and lived here on a student visa or something. i don't know if its because he was from a communist country or something but he'd literally give you the shirt off his back and had his door open 90% of the time in case i wanted to walk in. really weird dude

whenever i offered him lunch or free furniture (his apartment was literally empty but with a mattress) or something he was like NO NO NO
