Witnesses: U.S. Soldier Shot in Baghdad

Witnesses said a gunman shot the soldier while he was shopping for compact discs on a sidewalk in northwest Baghdad. Ammar Saad, a 44-year-old vendor, said the soldier was shot in the neck at close range.

In other violence, the military spokesman said U.S. troops in western Baghdad shot and killed an Iraqi boy on the roof of his house Thursday. Gibson said soldiers had seen someone carrying an AK-47 assault rifle moving from the back of the roof to the front.


"The soldiers determined the situation was hostile and engaged the individual," he said. "It was not until after the search was under way that they discovered that it was an 11-year-old boy."

It sounds to me like they were getting even by shooting someone with the intellect of an 11-year old.

The stupid thing is that I keep seeing news reports about 'shock uprisings' in Iraq, as if it isn't under military control which was brought about by a heavy invasion. It's not going to be Disneyworld just because Saddam's gone
