I went for a 10k run today and came home and had a long hot bath with a cup of tea, with the radio on. The classical music station was interviewing a law professor about u.s. Gun reform and his work in Micronesia. In between he picked music...safe choices but good anyway. I mean...I could really get used to not having a job. The muffins are done. They smell nice.

They're NOT in the free or affordable clinics either. And it sounds fucked up but unless it's a specialist I'm not going to waste my time. I can trick the under-prepared WAY too easily. I've been able to discard food in an ED clinic before ffs. And if I'm sabotaging my own recovery like that...whatever. I don't know, but some social worker or the freebie list just won't be able to handle it.

Obviously I'm not a medical expert, so get this checked.
But I'd guess it should be possible to get back to normal.
I didn't have my period for 18 months, once my health got better it all started working again, though.

They either get it together by themselves or they don't. No one can afford a babysitter their whole life, and believe it or not I'm a private person outside of this tiny website and would hate that.

A former schoolmate of mine battled with it for... hm....I'd guess age 13 to 25. Her family was able to pay for the "best" - over and over again.
She finally got a (free) place in study/research programm. She was living there for a full year. She still has to watch herself, of course, but she's 30 now and for all I know doing pretty good.

She would have to get a referral from the "free" clinic and go from there. There are very few specialists that will accept medicaid (if eligible). Some hospitals will offer grants to cover treatment for low income patients. She would have to check in her area, since I only know how CA, SD, and MT work.

I worked at a "free" clinic and unfortunately there are only so many options, but if it were me, I would still try getting a referral and talking to whatever hospitals are nearby to see what can be offered.

Is there a Jewish Family Services around there? They tend to have experienced ED therapists and do free/sliding scale.

I know what you mean about therapists, you really need one that's smarter than you and has a lot of experience. My therapist is smarter than me and has 20+ years experience with dissociative disorders and eating disorders. But I have Medicare and she takes it so...

People do recover from EDs. They always have to watch themselves but it is possible. I know... 4 or 5 people who have been in remission for years. People who were in and out of ED clinics and the regular hospital because of anorexia.
