Default Google+ overtakes Twitter for second place in most popular social network sites

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Googl...Latest+News%29

Pretty surprising. I think more of my friends are on G+ than Twitter, but none of them actually use G+ at all. The ones that do use Twitter seem to use it far more frequently.

what is the point of G+? Just another social site? Is it mainly techy people...?

Once FB is done, I'm done with social networking. I think FB more than anything in the 17 years I've been using the internet has effected my opinion of not only my immediate family but also people in general.

Made the decision as a college freshman to never have a Facebook page because I figured it'd go away in a year or two. Sure makes me look dumb.

you really aren't missing anything except shitty opinions on current events, bitching about not-problems, drama, and memes. the only thing more time-sucky than facebook is tumblr. had to get rid of that shit too.

This depends entirely on who your Facebook friends are. It will not always be true.

i do kind of like fb in that it has broken down a little bit of the artist/fan relationship

i regularly interact with people from about three or four bands i really like via their personal page. then you realize that they are really just average ass people.

i deactivate my fb account periodically. (it's currently off) i really dont like it that much, but it's an easy way to let people know where i am/share photos. i was surprised how much people appreciate that. but now that i'm settled and not moving around as much, it's easy to get sucked into the day-to-day nonsense. and i dont like feeling my identity being represented by a profile. i do like the feeling of knowing that no, i have no messages to check since nobody can send me any. and if i want to find something to do tonight, why not go for an adventure in the city! or sit with a book or draw or shoot the shit with my house-mate.

i think im on g+ but haven't used it once. i JUST started using gchat with my best friend back home since i'm not on fb for now.

i use gchat all the time. it's a great way to talk and you don't have to sign into anything (except your gmail, but i check that, anyway). i haven't used a messenger so much since AIM.

Have G+, used it all of three times. Have a Twitter, use it only for periodically posting random Simpsons quotes. Don't know a thing about Tumblr.

this statistic is bogus and has more to do with number of accounts than use. people who create new accounts on google properties are opted in. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...ries#printMode

but who cares anyway it all sucks

THIS. If you have a G+ account but haven't ever had a "hangout" on there, then you're missing out. Had a blast a few weeks ago - two buddies, my brother, and my wife all video chatting like we were sitting in the same room. We could share YouTube videos and watch them at the same time, and all sorts of other fun ridiculousness. But what's almost the coolest part is that you can pick sunglasses/hats/masks/goggles/snorkels and put them on your face... then it follows your face around remarkably well.

I, like many, registered for Google+ right out of the gate, but haven't ever really used it... mainly because it's just not nearly as intuitive as every other Google product out there. But secondly, because nobody else does. Well, scratch that - one friend does, but he works at Google - so I think right now, it's a haven for his coworkers and him.

no, it's pretty bogus

"second most popular" it is not. i am one of the probably millions of people who have a G+ account via gmail but never ever ever ever use it. it sucks. the only people i know who use it work for google.

Hangout is the only thing I use it for. I occasionally sit in on the weekly Astronomycast hangout. It is definately a cool feature. Much better than using something like tinychat
