Turn off everything you use to connect to the Internet - computer, router, cable modem, whatever. Then turn it back on. If you're on any dynamic IP system, you should have a new IP then.

are you sure they only banned your specific ip addy? most people know how easy it is to change an ip address and ban all ips within a certain range (thus the occasional state-wide netphorian blackouts of the past). if they banned the all ips with the same first two values of your ip address, chances are you won't be able to get back in with your current internet provider. if you change your ip and still can't get back in the best way to go about it would be to use a proxy-server, at least while you browse that page. you just get the ip and port number of the proxy and enter it into the relevant fields of your web-browser's settings. there are various places to acquire lists of working proxies, a google search of "security AND proxy-list" might get you somewhere
. it's worthwhile to note that not all proxies are created equal, and it might be time well spent to download some program to test the proxies and pick on that's nice and secure. there are also a number of free "safe surfing" pages (ex. http://megaproxy.com ) that serve as a proxy, among other things. of course nowadays there are more sophisticated banning methods admins can employ, which i wouldn't know how to get around (but i'm sure snooping around a few security forums might yield a method).Last edited by funnygeezus : 06-25-2003 at 03:25 AM. |
