standard seasonal topic: what gifts are you giving?

here's what i've got so far:

toddler nephew: toys
older toddler niece: toys
younger toddler niece: nothing yet but probably clothes
sister: smashbox hazel eyes eyeshadow palette and i'll get a lil something to go with it
sister in law (secret santa on husband's side): knitting needle organizer & sbux card
mom & dad: gift certificate for their fave restaurant. sister's getting them movie gift certs. so that's dinner & a movie on their kids
mother in law: not sure. i think my husband and i will get her a spa certificate
bff: not sure yet. got time i'll probably see her after the holidays
both grandmas: will get them restaurant gift cards
husband: alien quadrology on blu ray, dark knight trilogy on blu ray, the factory records coffee table book, soft moon's latest lp, some undies & sour candy. other than that, putting some money in savings toward our next vacation. also, i'm wrapping up a magic mike blu ray for both of us from the cats
co-workers: i baked cookies and i'm handing em out today!

i got tim some pretty cool, thoughtful gifts, i think. i can't say what they are, though! :{

i want to get my mom a recipe book so she can get rid of all her ripped magazine cut-outs, notecards, and print-outs. i have no idea what to get my little brother, big brother, or step-dad but my mom said to wait until after the new year for some reason (i think they're going out of town. i dunno).

i'll send a card out to a few people.

what kind of cookies did you make? the dinner and a show gift from you and sister is a good idea.

seriously no other meals but ramen for a whole month? have you tried to doctor it up with spinach or an egg or green onions or mushrooms or something- they're inexpensive and you'll at least have some variety.

peanut blossoms (peanut butter cookies w/ hersheys kisses in the middle) and toblerone-skor shortbreads!

dinner gift cards are great for parents/grandparents. they buy whatever they want/need, so it's nice to treat them to a night out at least.

My wife and I don't buy much for each other. We adopted a family throught the YMCA. We bought shoes for everyone in the family and we got various gift cards for each of them based on what they all asked for.

i work for a toy company, so i'm kind of the opposite. the nieces' mom (bro in law's wife) even sent a detailed list of books and "gender-neutral" toys and i was like, come on, i've been stockpiling free toys all year. screw your list!

the older niece is very "princessy" so i got her the pinkest, purplest, frilliest doll my company makes

it's a really twisted place we live in in 2012, brother
