Default i'm going hunting tomorrow

my grandfather's friend was supposed to take me (first time) but he backed out. when my mom mentioned it to the PE teacher at the elementary school she worked out he said he'd "mentor me." I've never met this guy but I've talked to him on the phone a few times and he sounds fine. Although he does keep sending me weird texts and photos of himself with dead deer.

Later today I'm going to drive two hours into the mountains to meet him at his hunting cabin. Apparently we are going to "hike the mountain" tonight on some sort of scouting mission. Then tomorrow he has a plan that involves me sitting in a blind in a camoflaouged "sleeping bag with feet" waiting for a deer to come. Apparently it has a silent zipper.

Perhaps I will be in a position to report back on Sunday.

Shooting deer? Trying killing an animal which is a bit more of a challenge.

I was in a Glen a few days ago and had my way blocked by a massive stag. Scary stuff.

Ask sppunk how he feels about the North East's dwindling precious deer population.

Immersion: The sheep drowned while trying to cross a small canal in the meadow-swamp "Třndermasken", in southern Jylland in Denmark. Birds had eaten every part above the surface, and everything under was left totally untouched.

Well if you feel like killing deer come over to Scotland. They are for the most part vermin. The image above of the dead sheep is horrible. It reminds me of something I saw in Ireland earlier this year. It was lambing season and quite a few mothers had died during the birthing process, and the farmer had lined up these dead sheep with lambs hanging out the back. Was pretty sad

Naturally I took pics.

I thought it was expensive as hell to get a license to shoot deer in Scotland. That's what I was told when I was in Elgin last month.

You came to Scotland and didn't tell me? I'm offended. I have no idea how much it costs to shoot Deer, I'm not a cunt.

Toyschoketoys (Iain) on here worked on some massive state on the highlands and was hunting fairly regularly with helicopters and all kinds.

I put up a thread two months ago saying I was going to be in Aberdeen. But we ended up staying out side of Elgin.

only two nights and for business. The Inn where I stayed had Red Stag mounts on the walls.

flying into Aberdeen most of the people on the plane from Paris were heading home from the Celtic game in Barcelona the day before. Half the plane was pissed drunk.

the entire time i was there I couldn't understand a fucking word anybody said. At dinner one of the nights with a few people from Scotland I asked about the likelihood of a vote for Independence from England and I might as well have set off a bomb in the dining room. That's NOT a cool thing to talk about over dinner when half the table are Scots and the other half are English (Londoners).

Same here. Their population exploded and they cause pretty widespread devastation for the ecosystem and property. They ruin vegetation by eating saplings and those dumb fuckers help cause over 30,000 accidents a year in PA alone. They're like graceful rats that are sexually attracted to car headlights.

so i reckon the plot goes like this

everything goes well and seems normal (although there are a few odd statements made by the guy on the hike, which will at first be interpreted as innocuous but be recast by later developments) up to the point where you're alone in the blind

waiting

waiting

waiting for too long

night falls

you check your phone. 7pm. no cellular coverage

where's the guy?

it starts to get cold

you start to hear things in the distance

strange things

sounds no human or animal would make

you leave the blind and try to find a safe spot to see out the night

but the noises keep getting louder

and seem to come from different directions

etc etc
